Here are some recent photos of our young animators hard at work with the 'I Can Animate' software.
There are 4 groups in the club with 4 students in each. To familiarize the group with the software and to get them used to working as an animating team, I set them the task of animating 2 'blobs' of plastecine. They were asked to make a short animation of no longer than 1 minute with 12 frames per second, and the story could be anything. I encouraged students to keep the animations simple at this stage as the main purpose of these animations were really just to learn about the different steps involved.
They worked in groups to come up with a story, created a storyboard and also made the characters and collected any props they needed (things lying around the art classroom). They then took turns in each of the different roles - each had a shot being the 'mover' and 'director' for example.
The club have taken to the software like ducks to water and there has been lots of loud laughter coming from the students as their creations come to life!
Watch this space for the groups' finished animations over the next few weeks.
